Mark Driscoll introduced Beth Moore as the new junior teaching pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington

Driscoll Announces Beth Moore as New Teaching Pastor Driscoll, whose church has traditionally been somewhat rigid on the role of women in higher level positions in the church, explained, “This is okay, because she’s not the senior pastor. We’ve been very clear about it. She’s just the junior teaching pastor, so there’s really nothing to worry about.” As he spoke, many present reported gasps in the audience. Somewhere between 30% and 50% of the congregation marched out of the auditorium before he could even complete his announcement. According to reports, Driscoll made the hire unilaterally because he knew if he involved the church board in the decision, “I wouldn’t have stood a chance at getting approval. But since I’m the senior pastor, I had the right to make the hire.”

[DavidO] Gotta be an April Fools joke.
Thanks for ruining it for everyone else, DavidO :-)

Yeah, I shoulda read the article. Didn’t know the giveaway was there.

That’s hilarious! You gotta appreciate people with a great sense of humor!

This is how rumors are started. I look forward to the day (not really) when I’m talking with someone about either Beth Moore or Mark Driscoll and they bring this up as ammo as to why they’re ungodly. Hilarious. :-)

I see her sometimes on Christian TV (James Robison). I haven’t listened to her enough to find out where she is doctrinally, but I have noticed that she is very self-referential. It’s just my perception, but it seemed as if her life experiences play a central role in her teaching.

Yeah, it would be rather sloppy and humorous especially when there is so much accurate information at one’s finger tips about the doctrinal errors of both.
