Bible Study Recommendation for College Students

Forum category
I’m looking for good bible study resources for a guy’s bible study for college students.

Any recommendations?

Are you thinking something narrow, like a study of the book of James? Or something broad, like the biblical storyline? Is this a study through the church or at the college? Secular or Christian college? Are there going to be “seekers” or just professing Christians?

In the recommendations that follow, I’m assuming you’re doing something other than just studying a part of the Bible (although that’s a perfectly good option).

For more broad-based study about the biblical storyline or general Christian doctrine, I like According to Plan by Graeme Goldsworthy or Concise Theology by J.I. Packer. For more devotional/spiritual growth, I like Transforming Grace by Jerry Bridges and Living the Cross-Centered Life by C.J. Mahaney. If you’re looking for something more structured, John Piper’s Don’t Waste Your Life program has a book, accompanying workbook, and video segments. I attended an IFB college student group that used that curriculum and enjoyed it.

There are also some “worldview” or apologetics resources that may be helpful for students in secular environments. A few that come to mind are Things That Cannot Be Shaken by Scott Oliphint and The Consequences of Ideas by R.C. Sproul.

A short, helpful book on personal Bible study is How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth by Fee and Stuart.
