"Casting Our Crowns at His Feet"

Forum category
Last night at church we were talking about rewards in Heaven, and I had a flashback to my early college days. There was a men’s quartet that did a song…I think this was the title, and some of the words I think were:

We’ll cast our crowns at His nail scarred feet,

Our joy complete in His presence sweet.

Eternity’s greatest privilege will be

Casting our crowns at His feet.

Anybody know the rest, or even have a source for the music?

Thanks!

I don’t remember this one at all, either. I would almost guess that it was never published and only sung by that one group, and possibly never recorded. Remember, CyberHymnal cannot post anything copyrighted. Having been a music major, though, I’d say it was written for a specific set of voices and may only exist in handwritten form in someone’s files. Maybe try checking with the music department of the college? If you’re like me, now that you can hear it in your head, it will bug you until you get your hands on it! :)

I just googled a different portion of the verse to see if anything popped up (you are right, Christy…I’m a woman on a mission now! ;) ), and I got two hits! I was so excited, until I saw that one was this discussion on SI (duh, Diane)…but the other was a sermon in which a pastor used the exact phrase—so I sent him a message to see what he knows.

Thanks for commiserating, even if no further help could be offered. :)

Woohoo!!! How much money will you give me for the guy who has it??? j/k

His name is Gordon Jensen, and here is his site. It is on the ‘Gallery’ CD. http://gordonjensen.homestead.com/

I emailed him to make sure and here is what he wrote:
The song was in print also as “We’ll Cast Our Crowns At His Feet”. I prefer “Casting Our Crowns At His Feet”

Yes, it is one of my songs! Yes, those are the lyrics to the chorus. Is she recording, sing it publicly?

I appreciate the interest!

So glad Diane will be able to sleep tonight! Let us know when you release your CD of “Great and Seldom Sung”. HA.

No way! You are amazing!!! (one of Susan R’s emoticons would be handy here) The preacher I contacted had nothing to give me. How did you find this?

Now, as far as rewards go…I don’t have any sons to name after you, but I do have a $1 off coupon for Deli Mex Taquitos in my wallet. How’s that?

When I put it on YouTube, you’ll be the first to know. (seriously, I wanted it for our ladies group at church) Thanks heaps!

haha. I don’t think we have Deli Mex Taquitos here. :(

How I found it…I am a millennial. :) I am tied directly to the web via wireless antenna in my head…

In google I typed this: lyrics “casting our crowns at his feet”

Quotes are important around the phrase as it will only find pages with that exact quote. The second or third link took me to a site with different albums(what are albums?). Just did a find for casting, and there it was. Then did a quick google search for the artist. Found his site. Found his email, voila!

I did the same google search…must not have been holding my mouth right.

Thanks again.

ps I know what albums are. Eight track tapes too.

[Diane Heeney] I know what albums are. Eight track tapes too.
Well, I had my own reel-to-reel tape deck, which goes back further, though I never had a Victrola! Only ran into a few 78s.

I’m just thankful I didn’t buy too much in those older formats. Only ever had a few 8-tracks or tape reels. I have too many cassettes and albums as it is. Now if I could only get more companies to do SACDs or Blu-ray audio instead of CDs, but I guess that’s asking a lot, and besides, my kids will think all those are obsolete anyway!

Bro Jensen made the kind and generous offer to send me a copy of the music, although it is out of print. I am looking forward to seeing it and presenting it to my ladies group. Maybe I should have him sign it…might be worth something on Antiques Roadshow someday, included with the “provenance” of this SI discussion. :)

Speaking of the Roadshow, I’d give my right arm (okay, probably not) for the old 78’s of the Ink Spots etc. that my folks used to have in our attic. I’m sure they’d be worth a chunk of change by now. (wow, that makes me sound materialistic, doesn’t it?)
