This is an interesting synopsis and I have no reason to doubt the author’s observations, primarily that this theology was most embraced by “Calvinist revivalists.” But what I find interesting is that those in Fundamentalism today who would most be associated with Keswick theology are almost without exception antagonistic toward Calvinism. Research on how this came about would perhaps be interesting.

Unfortunately, the antagonism you reference above is a two-way street. It is true that many modern Keswick fundamentalists show antagonism toward Calvinism. However, have you also noticed the vehement attacks by Calvinists against Keswick theology? Case in point: Andy Naselli’s recent tome, Let Go and Let God , which has received numerous endorsements from Calvinists. As you have suggested, it would be interesting to see research on how this came about.

Jim:
Thanks for responding. I was not trying to be critical, although I suppose it could have been taken that way. Knowing little of the history of Keswick theology I was interested to learn that early on Calvinistic individuals were supporters and perhaps made up the majority of its supporters. Now it would appear that the majority of support would come from almost the exact opposite side of the spectrum. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for your gracious spirit. It is truly amazing how the pendulum swings on these things!
