Zondervan: Rick Warren's New Book Delayed Indefinitely
“The company explained that Warren needed time to focus on other projects at the moment.” More at CP
If the forth-coming book of R. Warren sows as much confusion and discord in the Church as some of his previous ones, maybe the delay represents a little reprieve for the Body of Christ.
Apparently the publishing delay is due to Warren’s current preoccupation with other projects. Zondervan is itching to publish it whenever Warren is ready. Considering all the talk about separation and secondary separation etc.. does anyone ‘separate’ from a Christian publishing company because of the false doctrines they are responsible for disseminating? Just curious.
There goes my summer reading program… J-) H:)
In all seriousness,
The alternative is to work with a Biblically faithful publisher, which may mean a smaller one where your book may not be taken as seriously or promoted as widely — or it may reach only one denominational group. Of course, there are a lot of variables there too, and much of this is still up to the author to make the most of his publication.
A more pragmatic discussion which we have kicked around before is whether a Bible teacher should separate from a radio/TV network which promotes false teaching. That would seem like more of a ministry cooperation situation than having a book published is.

Just curious.I have not heard a credible explanation/defense for separating from a publishing company. Most writers would be thrilled to have their ideas disseminated to the widest audience possible from the biggest possible platform. In today’s world, many “Christian” publishers are owned by secular companies anyway — so one could view it as being largely similar to working with a completely secular company (1 Cor. 5:10).

Maybe Warren has asked for a delay because he is rethinking his theology (or lack thereof) after his conversations with Piper. I can see it now, “The Sovereign Grace Driven Life”.
