Noah's Ark Found?

We’ll see I guess.

From an objective scientific point of view, the discovery of wood on Mount Ararat is encouraging because scientists maintain that high mountain altitudes are depleted of trees and no human settlement has ever been found above an elevation of 3,000 metres. Wood fragments discovered in the past may have come from the Ark.
i think they missed the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uros] uros at 3800m.

I could have sworn I remember reading a National Geographic article about finding the ark on Ararat - I read the article probably eight years ago but the article itself might have been 2 years old at that point. That one said the Turkish government had forbidden anyone from climbing Ararat.

Did they find Pharoah’s chariot wheels and the Ark of the Covenant up there as well?

I wonder if David Cornuke has comments? Ararat is a range, as I understand that. Cornuke found what looks like it could be the ark in Iran a few years ago. Has that been discredited?

"The Midrash Detective"

I have followed the whole ark thing closely for 30 years. Unless this is a recap, this would make 5 possible ark sites that I know of — 3 right on Mt. Ararat itself!
I have books by two different authors citing 2 different discoveries. Additionally, there are websites outlining ark sites that are far more interesting and for which research is far more developed than this one. Google it.

Perhaps people put a lot of wood structures on mountains in ancient times! Perhaps the Ark Noah actually put animals on was Ark 4.0 or something, and the rest just drifted empty and landed after the flood. Or, more likely, someone is fibbing. Have you ever been to Roswell, New Mexico? You can build quite a town on tourism. Eventually, whether the UFO crashed there or whether Noah’s Ark is up that mountain becomes irrelevant to the huge collection of museums and diners (Imagine, sinking your teeth into a “Triple Decker Ark Burger” with different animal meat on each level, a side of Fries, and a decorative olive leaf, just like the dove brought back! And each beverage comes with a souvenir rainbow cup. Worth the trip? You know it!). The Turkish Government has official signs and a museum for the Noah’s Ark National Park, showing the site that they have certified as real, and it is not this one. It’s a bit more convincing than this one too.

So, too many Arks, not enough research.

But now the truth can finally be known:
Cletus and I was down by the Reservoir fishing about 20 years ago when we spotted one of them Ark things kinda hovering on the waters. Course we’d heard about Noah’s Ark in church, and knew it had to be around someplace, but never dreamed she’d still be afloat. We was all excited, and tried to yell to get other people to look, but it drifted off into the mist. I looked at my watch, and noticed that we’d lost about 2 hours, even though Cletus and I felt like it had been only moments. Cletus was surprised a few weeks later when the doctor told him he was missing a kidney. Well, we tried to tell the church folk, but then 2 guys in black showed up and told us we had only seen the planet Venus. :)

Seriously, don’t latch onto any of these stories until they are very thoroughly verified by Scientists who are believers and until secular scientists profess puzzlement at what has been found. At that point, it MIGHT be safe to declare to everyone that Noah’s Ark has been found.

I have no doubt that Noah’s Ark was real. I expect there’s some small chance the remains of it are still around. But as long as tourism and fundraising for expeditions exists, it will be hard to tell whether a particular claim is real or not.

And, by the way, did you notice the use of Carbon Dating to prove this recent find dates to the time of Noah’s Ark? Biblical literalists using Carbon Dating and believing it? Does anyone else sense the irony?

I apologize in advance to anyone who has been terrorized by the real Men in Black. You have my sympathy. I was not trying to make lite of your situation. I was just trying to make a point.

I am on the mailing list for Randall Price’s newsletter and he recently sent out an email about this claim. Here is a quote from part of his newsletter:

“To make a long story short: this is all reported to be a fake. The photos were reputed to have been taken off site near the Black Sea, but the film footage the Chinese now have was shot on location on Mt. Ararat. In the late summer of 2008 ten Kurdish workers hired by Parasut, the guide used by the Chinese, are said to have planted large wood beams taken from an old structure in the Black Sea area (where the photos were originally taken) at the Mt. Ararat site. In the winter of 2008 a Chinese climber taken by Parasut’s men to the site saw the wood, but couldn’t get inside because of the severe weather conditions. During the summer of 2009 more wood was planted inside a cave at the site. The Chinese team went in the late summer of 2009 (I was there at the time and knew about the hoax) and was shown the cave with the wood and made their film. As I said, I have the photos of the inside of the so-called Ark (that show cobwebs in the corners of rafters - something just not p! ossible in these conditions) and our Kurdish partner in Dogubabyazit (the village at the foot of Mt. Ararat) has all of the facts about the location, the men who planted the wood, and even the truck that transported it.” - Newsletter email from Randall Price received 4/26/2010

Randall Price was involved in a search fo the ark in 2009. You can see his update on that search here: http://www.worldofthebible.com/Documents/Winter2009.pdf

Mike… your post is a classic.
(But I know Cletus. Cletus was a friend of mine. You’re no Cletus.)

Seriously, though, it would be great fun if this turned out to at least be “something unexplainable.” Critics would not believe it if “Noah was here” was found carved on the inside w/a carbon date of 5000 BC. But it can be fun to watch them scratch their heads and spin theories. So I hope there turns out to be something more than wishful thinking and/or fraud going on …this time.

I find this one a more interesting possibility — though I’m not sure this site describes the evidence for it credibly. http://www.arkdiscovery.com/noah’s_ark.htm

Note that there are some who think Mr. Wyatt (the discoverer of this one) is a fraud. He certainly over-promotes and over-interprets his data from time to time.

Wyatt is a complete fraud. Don’t you find it amazing that the same guy has discovered Noah’s Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah, the site of the Red Sea Crossing (with Pharoah’s chariot wheels), Mt. Sinai, and the Ark of the Covenant (which was right under where Christ was crucified so his blood literally dripped down on to the mercy seat)?

Indiana Jones could only dream of having a record like that.

True, he’s no Indiana Jones - and his record is questionable. But that potential Ark site was of interest long before he was promoting it.
