Pastor Joel's thoughts on Abdul Hafiz

Forum category
Back in December, USA Today reported that we had let Abdul Hafiz return to his native Afghanistan. Well, sure enough….he and scores of other “former detainees” like him, have picked up their weapons in anger towards the West once again. How in the world do we let these guys go back to the Taliban pond that they spawned from? I don’t get it….at all. Look if you know they are murderers, and we are at war….you don’t put these guys through the court system that is constitutionally reserved for Citizens “in good standing.” The Scriptures are clear: government has been given the right to take the life of those who destroy the image of God in man by death and terrorism. This is not hard. Ignore the bleeding-heart liberals who could care less about the image of God, and protect the millions of peace-loving citizens that can discern the difference between their left hand and right. Hang them! (The terrorists not the liberals). I’m sure numbers of American citizen would gladly donate the rope!

The bleeding hearts are not reality based. They operate based on how they think the world should be, rather than the way it is. Delusional good intentions can be most harmful.

alternatively, an innocent and illiterate guy is put in prison for 6 1/2 years without any kind of reasonable trial or representation, then he’s sent back with a big grudge against america and no real way to make an honest living.

The military should endeavor to treat all captives well, discover their guilt or innocence as quickly as the situation will allow, and then take appropriate action. I believe that they attempt to do this. When mistakes are made, we take efforts to correct them. When illegal conduct is discovered within our ranks, it is punished. he violations at Abu Ghraib should have been prosecuted more severely, and at higher ranks. However, Joel is correct that the Constitution was designed for U.S. citizens, not illegal combatants.
