Jim, can you share:

* Revenue YTD (and 2018 revenue).

* Total of other expenses the church will incur on an annual basis

I prefer not to answer this on S/I … but all will be shared with candidates at an appropritate time in the interview process

Given that while I was at 4th, Federal Express was the employer of choice for Central students, my first thought is that the pastor ought to be compensated at least a touch more generously than a FedEx driver/worker, with an overall target of getting to a decent salary for a worker with a college degree. Add in a vehicle allowance and structure it in part to have a housing/book allowance that wouldn’t be taxed.

Indeed says the mean salary is about $40k, but that would include all churches.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

Average median costs from three reputable health care sharing ministries; Samaritan Ministries, Medi-share, Christian Care. Few churches can afford to cover traditional plan.

Tyler is a pastor in Olympia, WA and works in State government.

I get it but without that information, I am not sure how anyone can provide realistic information. I am really not sure how a church of 50 can support a pastor FT unless there are unusual circumstances such as someone wealthy that is willing to front a lot of the cost.

50 people = ~15 giving units

Assuming 2/3rds of those tithe (~10 give 10%), that means the church generates revenue roughly the equivalent of one average household’s income.

If there are no expenses other than pastoral salary, I suppose you could just give most/all of that to the pastor and he would make an average salary though benefits would be a stretch. All churches have expenses that would eat into that of course even if the building is paid for.

I am sure you know all that though and there is something unique to the situation that I don’t know. But if we just throw out numbers without knowing more, I am not sure there is much value to you.
