Hashtag stirs debate over role of Christian schools in US
“To critics, many of these Christian schools venture too often into indoctrination, with teachings that can misrepresent science and history and potentially breed intolerance toward people with different outlooks.” - RNS
The truth that isn’t getting enough attention is that all human children are indoctrinated. The only questions are whether it will be done randomly or intentionally, and if the latter, whether it will be done by the state or by parents or by schools more closely connected to parents than the state could ever be.
Even non-enthusiasts for Christian education should be passionate about rejecting the false framing that’s going on: indoctrination vs. freedom (in state education) is a lie.
Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

Exactly. That is why in my fiery past I referred to public schools as “secular humanist boot camps.”
