4:55 a.m., 19 Mehr/October 11 According to a statement posted on Iran’s judiciary website, pastor Yousef Nadarkhani’s death sentence has been revoked by the High Court. Nadarkhani, 33, was arrested and sentenced to death in Iran’s northern city of Rasht in 2009.

“Pastor Nadarkhani has done nothing more than maintain his devout faith, which is a universal right for all people,” the statement released by the White House read. “That the Iranian authorities would try to force him to renounce that faith violates the religious values they claim to defend, crosses all bounds of decency, and breaches Iran’s own international obligations.
