Skirts on Men

I did a concordance search of the word skirt in the KJV and every time it was used, it referred to skirts on men. My question is, why don’t we have a skirts only rule for men instead of women if the argument is that men and women should be dressing differently based on skirts or pants? Of course I do not hold to the dresses only argument for either men or women, but am confused as to why some contend over this issue as if there were a verse in the Bible that said that women shall wear dresses. The other question I had is why tennis shoes are okay for women to wear when they pertain to men as much as pants do.

I understand that some make the argument from a modesty standpoint, but I am not convinced that dresses are more modest than loose fitting slacks- especially if a woman is picking apples on a ladder or even scooting around on the floor playing with a toddler. Therefore the main emphasis of my question is desiring an answer for the first point about dresses pertaining to women and not to men.

Discussion

Just as long as you don’t confuse the wearing of the kilt and Highland attire with wearing a skirt, I say play on.
