Read this if site pages don't seem to be updating
Some users have reported an intermittent problem with pages not updating at the site. New content goes out daily except most Saturdays and Sundays. So if you see Monday’s stuff still there on Tuesday, and clicking refresh a couple times doesn’t clear it up, you may be seeing the elusive “sometimes pages don’t update” problem.
If you’re up to a little troubleshooting, you can help us track down what causes this:
If you’re a member and see this problem when signed in…
1. Log out and refresh and see what that does.
If no change…
2. Log in, go to your Profile, click the “erase persistent logins” link at the bottom… then logout and refresh
If no change…
3. Log in again and refresh
If no change…
4. Log out, go into your browser and delete all your SharperIron cookies… then refresh
If no change…
5. Log in and refresh.
If the problem goes away at any one of these steps, please note which one and email me or post. Please also tell us what browser you’re using.
If you are a non-member and/or see this problem when not logged in to the site…
Please notify us using the contact form and tell us as much detail as possible including…
- Date and time you first noticed the problem
- What browser you are using
- What you did to try to clear it up (hit Refresh several times, emptied your cache/history, etc.)
- Whether you are having problems accessing other sites or not
- Whether you access SI through a company or campus server (we don’t need to know what company or campus… this matters only because some facilities do some caching of web stuff on their servers—for performance reasons I guess—and folks get “old” pages for that reason)
- If you did anything that resulted in partial or complete improvement, please tell us what you did
