Jim Peet (one of the moderators on SI; known to many here) was scheduled to have surgery on his lower back this morning at 8:30 (Central Time). This is the type of surgery:

I haven’t heard anything yet. Yes, he was hopeful that he would just be in overnight (which might mean going home today).

All well … not much pain … to not do much until stitches come out in 2 weeks. No bending, twisting or lifting
