Mattias Ryker Hanley 3/23/2008 – 12/12/2010

Dana Hanley has a 5 week old son- so she has given birth to one boy and lost another. Today she has been trying to decide what to bury Mattias in, and her other children are picking out his favorite toys to bury him with.

It really gives one some perspective on what is important in life- to love one another, enjoy our families and friends, and comfort one another and bear each other’s burdens. We just never know what is around the bend.

Survivors include his parents, John and Dana Hanley of rural Cook; siblings, Dakota, Steffen, Nisa, Elianna and Micah of the home; grandparents, Warren and Diane Giese of Olathe, Kansas; and Phillip and Audrey Hanley of Australia; Uncles, cousins; great-grandmothers, Anna Louise Bennet of Muncie, Ind.; and Nila Minnix of North Judson, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (12/16/10). Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, southeast of Cook, Neb. Memorials may go to Tiny Hands International. Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, is in charge of arrangements.

I know it was an accident of some kind, but I do not know the details. There has been an outpouring of comfort and prayers for this family in the blogosphere, and I am sure it will continue in the months to come.
