Fundamentalist Books

Whats the bets book to define the Fundamentalist movement?

Discussion

by David O. Beale. Though, I understand he has a follow on written and published.

Hoping to shed more light than heat..

I’ll second that - obviously a little bias. - I suspect some of the more conservative (non BJU) fundamentalists would find their stories on the outside. But a must-read for doing research.

Beale’s book is certainly good, particularly on the early days. A couple of other resources are Rolland McCune’s Promise Unfulfilled which is an excellent resource on the New Evangelicalism and fundamentalism. Marsden’s Reforming Fundamentalism is helpful on the same topic, though from an outsider’s perspective.

I think there’s a pertinent section in http://www.amazon.com/Evangelicalism-Divided-Record-Crucial-Change/dp/0…] Evangelicalism Divided by Ian Murray.

"Our task today is to tell people — who no longer know what sin is...no longer see themselves as sinners, and no longer have room for these categories — that Christ died for sins of which they do not think they’re guilty." - David Wells
