Chapel Messages at BJU by J. D. Crowley

Dr. Bob Jones III invited missionary J. D. Crowley to preach this week. The sermons are http://www.bju.edu/events/chapel/notes2.php?getday=18&year=2010&month=m…: HERE.

I have been pleasantly surprised and greatly encouraged and was interested in other reactions.

Discussion

Hi Ron, I took the time to listen to this sermon and have listened to another one, as well, on sermonaudio.com. First, thank you. I would agree with your assessment—pleasantly surprised and greatly encouraged!

We have BJU grads at our church who said that the BJU Chapel has been filled with wonderful preaching during missions week. One of the grad’s father went to school with Crowley and apparently knew him.

Here’s some quotes that I found particularly stirring:

“I put all all my sins in a pile on one side and all of my good works in a pile on another side and fled both of them… to Christ.”

“Evangelism is really nothing more than making God famous by telling His story—the great things He has done.”

“A Christian is a person who cannot endure the thought that there is a place in this world where God is unknown, unpraised, unworshipped, unloved, unthanked—a place where Jesus Christ is not famous. It is the passion of God’s Word.”

“Making God famous is arguably the most important theme in the bible.”
