Boldness in the day of Judgement
Forum category
I do not understand this. If we must give an account of both good and bad, then how are our sins and iniquities forgotten? More importantly, how can we have boldness when we give that account?
Thanks..
Hbr 10:16 This [is: the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Hbr 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Hbr 10:18 Now where remission of these [is, there is: no more offering for sin.
Hbr 10:19 ¶ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
1Jo 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done: in [his: body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be: good or bad.

J , Being it looks like no one else is going to chime in, I’ll offer an attempt.
Your first question ” If we must give an account of both good and bad, then how are our sins and iniquities forgotten? “
Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
1Cr 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Cr 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1Cr 3:14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Cr 3:15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire
The second “More importantly, how can we have boldness when we give that account?”
1Jo 4:17 ¶ Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
2Ti 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Hbr 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
I believe you are looking at two different judgments. The Lord Jesus Christ bore our sins on the cross.
2Cr 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Mar 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Jesus took our sins on himself. He was judged in the place of those who have faith in his blood.
Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
We are paid for, with the blood of Jesus.
Rom 8:1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
So, to sum up my answer, I believe that salvation is all about what Jesus did. It is all Jesus and none of me. The only part I have is to have faith. And because my hope is in Christ Jesus, I can be bold.
I don’t mix salvation and reeping.
One is about what Jesus did, and the other about what you did.
I’m quite sure there are many here who could have said this better but I hope you can get some meaning from it.

I think when I posted this verse, I was going by comments I’ve heard and didn’t really read it!
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.
I thought it said ‘give an account’ for things done in the body. Is that anywhere in scripture? I can’t find it, except I think for the husband and the pastor.
It seems I completely miss-understood this verse. It seems to be rather, that it will be a test of our works, possibly for reward? Not that we will have to give a response to God, answering why we did these things?
Am I on track?
Also, thanks for replying to my thread.

Consider the words given to Ezekiel the prophet,
“… But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: [and] not that he should return from his ways, and live? But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? When a righteous [man] turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.” — Ezekiel 18:21-26.
The wicked being saved by grace [though Ezekiel is writing regarding under the Law] , and the professed righteous ones under the Law. Note what is not going to be remembered or mentioned.

The only true God is, who is, the only self evident truth not contingent on any thing else."[There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD." -- Proverbs 21:30.
The damned won’t have their righteousness mentioned,
and the repentant won’t have their transgressions mentioned.
Truly then, a test of good works / reward. Awesome!
You have answered one of the fears that has been haunting me every night.
Thanks.

Paul S,
What about this?
Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
