Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

[Rob Fall] is your second statement.Which one is that? I’m lost in my own statements now. :D

[Aaron Blumer]“Divine creation of the world in six twenty-four hour days.”[Rob Fall] My choice in wording is your second statement.Aaron: Which one is that? I’m lost in my own statements now. :D

Perhaps the following could be added: We believe that all who believe otherwise are heretics of the first order and shall be cast into outer darkness for a period of time to cleanse their minds of corrupt doctrine before entering God’s kingdom.
Unlike Calvin, we should not propose they be burned at the stake for heresy. a period of outer darkness would be sufficient. J-) |(

Give to the wise and they will be wiser. Instruct the righteous and they will increase their learning. Proverbs 9:9

[Alex K.] is anyone familiar with the Tablet Hypothesis? it maintains that Moses never claimed authorship of any of the book of Genesis, therefore word comparisons with the rest of Moses is not valid. (Ashby Camp has this article in his “List”)I’m thinking it’s unlikely to ever make it past the “hypothesis” stage.

[Aaron Blumer]so Aaron, your theory would be direct dictation of the seemingly eyewitness accounts of Genesis? of course the more important aspect is “Mosaic authentication” of Genesis which is not in dispute here. of course Genesis is the very word of God even if Moses didn’t author it.[Alex K.] is anyone familiar with the Tablet Hypothesis? it maintains that Moses never claimed authorship of any of the book of Genesis, therefore word comparisons with the rest of Moses is not valid. personally, i have no time for genetic evolution or its discussion.
where a problem could arise though: when we say-“thus saith the Lord, when the Lord did not say”. sometimes we want to take a stand on issues to get all our theological ducks in a row proclaiming “this is it” when maybe the Scriptures doesn’t really say what we are maintaining. i am not speaking of clear doctrines of Scripture but about things that are not so clear. we could paint ourselves into a corner if what we hold to is not what God was trying to communicate to us.

It wasn’t until I was a young adult that I came to believe in a literal 6 day view. Do to a more complete understanding of the flood evidence. (Viewed by non-Christian scientists as the geological time scale.)
I hold to an old universe, old earth (Genesis 1:1), and a young earth 6 day view. And reject the geological gap theory.
That “God made” two lights appearing on the 4 day, can be accounted for by the 500 km/s solar wind. It takes about 3-4 days to reach and pass the earth. (see Genesis 1:2. Genesis 1:16.)
Radon gas escaping out of the rocks can account for the younger age of 3 billion for earth rocks, and 4.5 billion for meteor/moon/solar space rocks. The earth being materially as old as the universe (Genesis 1:1.) Current theory places the age of the universe about 13 billion years ago. But I think it is much much older than that. What is thought of being the “big bang” is really looking into the past where God had already began rolling up the universe (Psalm 102:26.) Which will come to its final end at the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ. (2 Peter 3:12. Revelation 20:11.)
The earth from the 6 days being somewhere well under 100,000 to 8,000 maybe 6,000 years ago. Depending on the dating of the flood and ice age to follow.
It is important to note, God rested from all His creating on that 7th earth day.
The only true God is, who is, the only self evident truth not contingent on any thing else."[There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD." -- Proverbs 21:30.
