Jim Peet: Update on my cancer treatments

We are prying for you! Appreciate the updates, esp. the “39 Steps.”

"The Midrash Detective"

Jim, I pray for you regularly. Thanks for letting us know about your radiation. May God be pleased to exercise His gracious power to bring you to remission. Your contribution to SI is much appreciated!

The schedule is very intense but I am just going to do one day at a time

Praying for good winter weather (ha! ha!) here in Minneapolis as I really hate driving on snowy / icy roads

May we will have a heat wave!

Funny thing today: When I arrived today at 9:30, I asked directions to the men’s room. I was told - “no you cannot ‘p’ AND you have to drink two large glasses of water and wait an hour for your CAT scan.”

Yup: things they don’t tell you in advance

Jim, I have seen God answer specific prayer for nearly impossible problems in recent weeks. I pray earnestly for your healing and well-being. The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Thank you Mike and others for your prayers

  • Arrived at 6:45 pm
  • Met an old man Rick (70) in a wheelchair. He was waiting for his ride. He has bladder cancer. I prayed with him and asked that God might use the radiation to heal him (my prayer for self!). I gave him an ESV Gospel of John and Navigators Bridge tract
  • Went into machine room at 7:20. Routine is: shoes off, pants off, towel over groin. Lined up on bed. Lasers target on the 3 tattoos. Machine (called a TrueBeam by Varian) rotates a large head over my groin. Back and forth once and I’m done. Dressed and out of there by 7:45

I was apprehensive all day (I would like to say that I was at complete peace but really not!)

2nd day is tomorrow at 5:30pm

Two techs are Jacob and Rich. Going to take Johns to them tomorrow

My son and his new wife (of less than a year) live 1/4 mile from the hospital in a townhouse. They had dinner ready for us.

In the 16 years that my son has been out of the house, I’ve never been to his home b/c he’s been in an apartment on the 3rd floor and I don’t do steps.

Now they are in a townhouse … 3 steps up

I looked around their place: I recognized most of their furniture: 2 green leather couches, one leather recliner, one coffee table, two large rugs, two pictures on the wall … all from our house that we’ve given him over the years

Jim thank you for the update. May the Lord continue to use you to witness for Him during this trial and to bring complete healing.
