"Is it the greatest story ever told to the greatest music ever written?"

Sadly, reminded me immediately of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Why is it that my voice always seems to be loudest when I am saying the dumbest things?

The greatest music ever written?

Pat Blute is in the business of promoting himself. He’s an incredibly intelligent kid, who has risen fast and can see which way the wind blows. Sacrilegious kitsch is simply his next stepping stone. Read his interviews. He knows how to play to middle-American fan’s of Spears who also happen to be cultural christians while not undermining the appeal of the show for the homosexual base. The really unfortunate thing is that this show has the potential to push well past the fringe and into the mainstream - hence the “stepping stone.” I hope that I’m wrong. If I’m right, I dread to see what Blute does with more resources and a greater feeling of empowerment combined with the need to top what came before.

An example of the level of blasphemous hubris - during the Crucifixion scene, “Baby, Hit Me One More Time” is playing.

Two days ago, I share the article on Facebook. I now wish I hadn’t. I have friends who aren’t discerning nor “sophisticated” enough to see the problems with this. Friends who are huge fans of acts like Spears but also love to share Joel Osteen quotes. If they saw the article, I’ve introduced them to something that they may not have heard about otherwise. I’m afraid that I’m now part of Blute’s marketing strategy. I took the article down.
