Christian school sues ex-teachers who refused to give proof of faith

I don’t understand what the school is suing about since the teachers have not won anything yet. The IBM analogy fails - apples to oranges. I wonder why they claim that church ownership of the school is a for-profit venture.

Why is it that my voice always seems to be loudest when I am saying the dumbest things?

My guess is that the church’s lawsuit is defensive — they are probably asking the court for a declaration that the teachers’ rights were not violated, rather than suing the teachers for money. An action for such a declaratory judgment is a recognized and legitimate type of suit when you know that a dispute exists and the other party has credibly threatened to sue you. Among other things, it allowed the church to choose the forum (federal court rather than state) and to frame the issues on its own terms, at least initially.
