I’m in the “many of them feel very insecure” camp.

Something the author of this article fails to brings up, (not suprisingly since she writes for a religious section) is the possibility that the aitheist read these sections because they are easy to attack. Religious columns are typically written by liberals who have to balance the Bible with their world view. This leads to contradictions which are easy to pick up and pounce on. So atheists go to these sites and it is like shooting fish in a barrell. You’ll never be proven wrong and have plenty of opportunities to sharpen you teeth against harmless opponents. It
