NewAnother close connection with suicide

Wed, 08/13/14

Al Jorden (Doris Day’s first husband), father of my close friend Bruce Jorden, committed suicide by gunshot (handgun) on July 5th (shortly after midnight July 4th), 1967 in the living room on the family home in Delhi (Cincinnati), Ohio. I was 17 (a month shy of 18) and my friend was 16.

Glad you didn’t press the button, Jim, and it strikes me that the difference between life and death for a lot of depressed people is relationships. I had a coworker who took his life after he and his wife separated, and at his funeral, it occurred to me that he knew how to do everything—work, hunt, fish, projects in the shop—but love his wife in a way she understood.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
