Repentance: "I personally think what you 'feel' emotionally has very little significance"

During his brief ministry, John the Baptist challenged people to bring forth fruits that demonstrated true repentance. My repentance is genuine, not because of emotions, but because I cooperate with and submit to the ministry of the Holy Spirit taking the Word and applying it to my life.
A friend of mine has a question that has been used of the Lord often in my life It says “What do you hope to gain from this sin that is more important than obeying God ?” That question is an arrow directly aimed at the heart.
Another point is that Proverbs 28:13 would also indicate that prospering spiritually comes from not just being sorry for our sin, but changing our behavior before God and man.
