VA Preneed Certificate

Forum category

I was at my American Legion Post for the monthly food distribution it hosts for the local Resource Center’s Food Bank. Come to find out the VA just rolled out a new pre-need program to help with VA burials. This should take some of the burdens off the recently bereaved.

I downloaded the pdf to my machine, filled it out, then printed it for my signature. Sent the forms off today. Yeah, I know it’s Sunday. My Post Office will start processing it at 6:30 AM. That’s good enough for me. More if and when they get back to me.

Has anybody filled out the form? It’s not just for you. If you have a parent, relative, or church member who is qualified, you can get the process started. Speaking to the last class, how many of you pastors have gotten sucked into making the funeral arrangements for members of the congregation you serve? This form can save some of the headaches.

Has anybody found this form useful?

I sent it in. Haven’t heard back from them yet.

Thanks for letting us know about it.

The VA found me eligible for burial in a national cemetery. This benefit includes a grave, opening and closing the grave, perpetual care and a gov-furnished headstone - all at no cost to my family. This benefit extends to my wife and any minor children.

Thanks again Rob - I had no idea this was available.

It was dated 4 May. Considering the time it took to process this form, I’m glad my wife or whoever didn’t have to wait on it after I passed. It would have been that much longer to get my body into the ground.
