Greenville police release findings of BJU investigation

Thank God for this report. I’m looking forward to the chorus of positive affirmations from the readers of Sharper Iron.

G. N. Barkman

I am thankful for this finding from the Greenville PD. None of us get complex issues like the ones that have intersected BJ right every time. However…..your character is your best final defense. My hope is that this report will go a long way to answering those who have accused BJ of being wrong in it’s motive and foundation of ministry. While being a friend of BJ, I’ve never been on the “inside” of this ministry. I will say that from my perspective, BJ over the years has had a consistent record of trying to do the right things, the right way. No they’ve not been perfect…..but let him who is perfect cast the first stone! Let me remind the readership here at SI that the University has gone on record of apologizing for past policy that they now understand was the wrong way (race dating issues, etc….). I believe that BJ and it’s leadership are doing their best to honor God and serve Him faithfully. There may be a few things I would love to see them change…..but they must do what they believe they must do. The rest of us in ministry have the same restraints. They continue to have my confidence. Straight Ahead! jt

It is good to have this report confirm what most of the friends of BJU suspected all along. The University is not perfect. What organization is? But over the years and despite human imperfections. it has proven itself as a reliable friend of Bible-believing churches and Christians. I rejoice in this report and trust that those who have so vehemently denounced and accused the University of wrongdoing will find something more useful to do with their time.

Does this mean that BJU won’t be building the memorial that Scripture drove the G.R.A.C.E. people to recommend? I had already pictured it in the perfect place on campus—right where the Admin building formerly (or about to be formerly if they haven’t razed it yet) stood.

This is certainly good news for BJU, but all it means is that they didn’t find enough evidence to prosecute, but they did find enough evidence to say that their investigation wasn’t completely ludicrous. Lots of work to do yet for them, sad to say. I don’t mean to pick a fight here, but let’s not pop the cork on the champagne yet.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

“Bob Jones University appreciates the efforts of the Greenville Police Department and the Solicitor’s Office in their investigation. During the investigation, the University fully cooperated and provided all information requested by the investigation team. We believed our actions were not in violation of South Carolina law. We are pleased the investigation found no such violation.”
