Why Tax Exemptions for Religious Institutions Should Continue

Churches benefit from social law, order, and utilities without paying. The rest of society pay for those benefits on their behalf. That is subsidy.

Churches are considered as contributing to social law and order, which is one reason why the Supreme Court declared the tax exemption consitutional (8-1). They also pay for their utilities.

If we simply paid our taxes, we would no longer have the speech restrictions that come with our privileged tax-free standing.

Churches have no taxes to pay. If a church sent money to the IRS, they wouldn’t know what to do with it.

But even that, pastors do not know have restrictions on what they should say. IMO, there are far too many pastors who are willing to abandon the Bible to talk politics. If churches stick with their mandated message, then there is no conflict that I can see.
