2009

We’re staring down the end of 2009. There will certainly be a lot to remember and talk about. We’re starting to make a list .. would you like to contribute? This is in no particular order .. just the way it came spewing out of our heads:

  • Twitter popularity soars
  • KSM to be tried in NYC
  • Tea parties
  • The resurgence of Atlas Shrugged
  • Conservative authors top the NYTimes Best Seller list
  • The beginning of Obama’s “rule”
  • The exposure of the global warming hoax
  • Kindle
  • Ted Kennedy Tango Uniform
  • ACORN implodes
  • Guantanamo Bay is still open
  • Michael Jackson takes down Britney Spears as the #1 search term

What interesting cultural changes or newsworthy events do you think should be included in this list?

More techie news-

*Cisco vs Hewlett Packard

*Smartphones

*Social networking takes off at warp speed

*Scandal at Intel and IBM

*Oracle

Wasn’t Kindle launched in 2007?

Also, the resurgence of Atlas Shrugged should be travesty of the year. Is there a more blatantly anti-Christian philosophy than Randianism (Objectivism to the faithfully deluded)? As I recall, it’s pretty much a self-conscious elevation of self above all else.

This is just a list of events or trends from 2009, not intended to be an analysis of whether these events themselves were good or bad. Whatever you think of Ayn Rand, I’ve never seen so many people interested in her writings as I have this last year.

[Daniel] Kindle was released in 2007
Yes, but the Kindle 2 was released this year, and the price dropped this year as well, making it seem a better deal and convincing many people who had been on the fence to take the plunge. This was the year the Kindle really hit the mainstream.

I think in 2009 the year 2012 became the new Y2K.

More people are saying “Good-bye” to their land lines and are switching completely over to mobile phones. And netbooks are hitting the mainstream.

I’ve been seeing a return to ‘real person’ customer service.

lol…I just now got the Pillsbury thing. I had been thinking Pillsbury the brand which is owned by General Mills.
