Newsmax's Top 100 Christian Leaders in America

The list is totally absurd. Whoever put it together has no concept of “leader” or “Christian.”

I’m sure we all have names in mind that should NOT have appeared on this list. However, I’d be interested in the thoughts of others on who should have been on this list, but wasn’t and why you think they should be there.

Suggestions?

…is not on the list.

President of SBTS, where he led the resurgence of conservatism. Widely-read author and noted speaker. Frequently quoted in the national media.

John Piper / Al Mohler should be on the list. I was surprised to see MacArthur buried at #82 in favor of Christian luminaries like Mark Burnett (#3), David Green (CEO of Hobby Lobby at #26), Tim Tebow (#37), Chuck Norris (#50), and Carrie Underwood (#62).

I mean, when I hear Carrie Underwood or Chuck Norris - I always think of Christianity. Doesn’t everyone else on this website?

"Our task today is to tell people — who no longer know what sin is...no longer see themselves as sinners, and no longer have room for these categories — that Christ died for sins of which they do not think they’re guilty." - David Wells

…is also not on the list.

National reputation; widely known, widely read. Influential.

Why wasn’t I on the list?

Tyler is a pastor in Olympia, WA and works in State government.

I really don’t have a problem with the list as a whole. Remember this is a list of influential people who self-identify as Christians, and/or who are influential to “Christians” in America. So yes, Joel Osteen is very influential (unfortunately in a negative sense, I think most of us would agree).

I agree that Al Mohler should be on the list, but John Piper’s influence has waned since he retired from his church, and Mark Dever isn’t that well known outside of conservative evangelical circles. And even at that, I think he’s more well known to conservative evangelical pastors than to the average conservative evangelical Christian, as most of his writings are targeted at pastors and not laymen.

it does seem unfair to me that Tyler is not on this list.

I think Aaron Blumer should be on the list, since he’s the leader of our fearless band website….

;)
