Two requests

My mom was taken to the hospital at 2:30 this morning after feeling weak, falling, and being unable to get up. She had previously been diagnosed with an aortic valve problem that was too small for surgery as of yet. More to come.

Jack McCreadie is a young man from our church who was in a severe motorcycle accident on Thursday morning. There was swelling on the brain, which has since gone down. He has yet to regain consciousness. Please pray for him to regain consciousness and be unimpaired. All other injuries will heal on their own over time.

My mom is home. The diagnosis was dehydration. She was cutting back on soft drinks, and didn’t replace them with any other liquids.

So, the heart valve thing is still not big enough to worry about. Thanks for your prayers.

Jack McCreadie and family still need your prayers. The long wait for consciousness and assessment of any impairments continues.

Jack has begun to respond to commands by squeezing his rt. hand and releasing and moving his rt. foot. No response yet on left side.

Jack’s mom reports: LAST NIGHT HE [Jack] HELD A PICTURE OF ALEXIS AND MOVED IT ABOVE HIS HEAD AND LOOKED RIGHT AT IT AND GAVE A SMIRK. PAM AND I SAID HI JACK AND HE TURNED AND LOOKED RIGHT AT US AND YOU CAN SEE THE CHANGE IN HIS EYES AND FACE THAT YOU KNEW HE WAS BACK FOR THAT MINUTE OR TWO, AT THIS POINT THAT IS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT .THANKS, ALL YOUR PRAYERS ARE BEING HEARD.

Jack is experiencing more and more periods of consciousness. As they moved him out of ICU, family members said “see you soon”. He looked at them, waved, and smiled. It’s still a long way back, and full-time consciousness has not yet been attained, but it’s a start.

Direct from Jack’s mom: JACK HAS MOVED OUT OF THE ICU UNIT AND INTO REHAB. HE IS NOW EATING REAL FOOD (WITH NO RESTRICTIONS ) AND HAS A NEW CAST ON HIS LEFT FOREARM. THEY WILL BE WORKING WITH HIM FOR APPX. 3 TO 4 HRS A DAY FOR STARTERS. HIS IV HAS BEEN REMOVED BUT STILL HAS A FEEDING TUBE UNTIL HE STARTS EATING A LITTLE BETTER. KEEP UP THE PRAYERS.

From Jack’s dad: JACK HAD HIS COLLAR REMOVED ON THE 15TH , THAT WAS THE VERY LAST THING TO GO. HIS VOICE IS STARTING TO GET STRONGER EVERYDAY. HE IS ABLE TO TAKE PHONE CALLS NOW. HE IS WALKING OK WITH THE AID OF A CANE AND THE REHAB PEOPLE. THEY TOLD US HE MAY BE ABLE TO COME HOME WITH US NEXT THURSDAY (6-23-2011) ONLY 50 DAYS SINCE MAY 5TH. WE ARE LOOKING INTO GETTING REHAB TO COME TO THE HOUSE.HE STILL HAS A LONG ROAD AHEAD BUT EVERYTHING IS JUST GOING GREAT. KEEP UP THE PRAYERS.

Susan,

Mom is doing well, still. The current problem is dad. Facing 3 minor surgeries in the next 6 weeks.

My mom will be seeing the cardiologist to schedule heart surgery soon. Another incident like the one the other day was diagnosed as Stenosis of the valve in question.

Jack was in services this week for the first time since the accident.
