Very few from our generation have had to deal with the ministry load that you have had to deal with. You have handled yourself with grace, faithfulness and determination. My heart and prayers go out to Stephen. The position of Christian college president in American fundamentalism is one of the most challenging positions out there. He is making some great decisions for the future of BJU and I trust that he will be back in the saddle before too long. I also trust that BJU grads and grads of other fundamental schools will discern the difference between Biblical concerns and preferential issues and let the leaders of these schools lead without a bunch of foolish hassle. I’ve been in the ministry long enough now to see how foolish hassle affects the health of ministry leaders. I also trust that when a BJU grad or a grad of another school has a legitimate concern with a school, that they use their heart, brains, and Bible in dealing with that concern. There is a lot of nasty confrontation going on out there that seeks to do nothing but destroy. Whatever happened to the spirit and ministry of reconciliation?
I appreciate that fact that BJU has a leadership team that sees the need to give Stephen the time for medical leave that he needs and can fill in and make decisions in his absence.
Get well, soon, Stephen - that will be my prayer for you.
