“They are changing the 2001 ESV for the 2025 edition—and that’s after changes in 2007, 2011, and 2016. But I’m not alarmed, and I don’t think you should be.” - Mark Ward

With Ward, I know that there are no perfect translations, and even with my meager knowledge of Hebrew and Greek, I know that there can be no perfect translation. So there is certainly room for improving translations to get the most important sense of the original words there, and for reflecting updated views of what the autographs might have said.

That noted, a series of updates in rapid succession deprives the church of the opportunity to let the text start to resonate in our ears--for us to memorize the words so that we can speak His Word even when we don't have a copy with us. So I can see positives and negatives here.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
