5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. ~ 2 Peter 3:5-7
I love the History Channel. I'm always delighted to learn something new and they rarely fail to impress me with their shows. Today is no exception. I'm watching the "New York" episode of How the Earth Was Made. They've shown Pangaea and the theory of how "a global volcanic disaster" separated North and South America from Europe and Africa and the similarity of rocks on each side of the Atlantic and observed that New York and Morocco were likely neighboring regions in Noah's earlier days. They've explored the basaltic rock as evidence that massive volcanic activity was instrumental in separating the earth into multiple continents resulting in the Atlantic Ocean. They've considered the effects of glaciers and catastrophic floods that followed the volcanic eruptions and the great concentrations of boulders, mammoths and other animal fossils as evidence of all of this activity. And still the conclusion is, "... over millions of years ...".
As a young earth creationist, I am on the one hand dismayed that they can so blatantly ignore and even deny the words of the living God that easily explain that these things are all evidence of the great flood of God's judgment. And on the other hand, my faith in the voracity of Scripture is enlarged and I am exhilarated to think of God's simultaneous wrath in destroying man and grace in preserving him. read more
