NewWhat some might consider to

What some might consider to be an area of emphasis or strength for Piper, his practice as a moralist lends itself to an unwillingness to couch or accommodate particularly blatant immorality (abominations) and insistence on speaking plainly about its sinful properties, without apology. This is not to say one can predict Piper will always make ideal statements about all moral concerns but it is to say that it is not surprising he is clear and unapologetic as we have seen some, recently, feel like they need to prove to the rest of the world how “sophisticated”, “informed” or “enlightened” they are as they walk on eggshells with the issue to avoid bombs being dropped on them from a group that rejects them in the first place and as they wag their finger at an imagined majority of Christians who are guilty of the straw man offense of homophobia.

I would agree with your assessment.

I am contrasting the statement and approach by Mohler in the instance of his response to Lumpkins and his “homophobic” mistake to Piper’s plain speech and thus far, refusal to act so indiscreetly, so yes I am comparing the two in this context.
