The firstborn Raber child is supposed to be coming home for 2 weeks leave from Iraq this week. Pray that they don’t change his leave dates (again) and that he comes home safely so his mama can give him moochas smoochas.

The last I heard

is that his leave dates were from the 20th to Feb. 3rd or 4th. Whether he leaves Iraq on the 20th or is supposed to get here on the 20th, I don't know. I sent him his cell phone so that he could activate it when he landed in FL or GA. We're all on pins and needles wondering where he is and when we will hear from him. The anticipation is making us all a bit crazy.

Got a note

from Seth- he is at Al-Asad right now and is flying out tomorrow! YIPPPEEEE!!!

On a side note, when we heard from Seth our youngest boy says "Good, now we know he's not dead." Oh the joys of having children...

Great news! I'm excited for

Great news! I'm excited for you.

And yes, we too have had many such "strange consolations" brought to our attention by our kids. Smile

In Atlanta

Now he's in Atlanta trying to get the earliest flight possible to Dayton, but right now it looks like he'll be home this afternoon. The kid are going bonkers- I'm wondering just how much school we are going to get done today.

my "professional" opinion

Enjoy the day preparing. Life will not screech to a halt if school does not officially happen. I know if it were my family, concentration would be nil and all scholastic efforts would be for naught anyway. Why add frustration to a wonderful day?

An occasion like this is fun to use to drive home a point...how excited are we for the Lord's return? Though His arrival "date" is uncertain, it will be any day! Shouldn't we be preparing, excited, anticipating? Channel today's energy, and enjoy with abandon this wonderful privilege of having your boy in your arms once more (I still get weepy every time I hear the words to "Cherish the Moment").

True

Seth got an earlier flight, so we went to the airport and the flight got delayed. It was still fun to do some people watching at the airport- lots of soldiers coming home, so it was neat to see other families being reunited. He's home now and is exhausted from 3 days in airports, but I am sure we are going to have a great visit.
