A while back we had a thread where there was a question ( and much talk ) about Acts 2. Things never seemed to get anywhere. E.C. Moore covers this in a few videos. I hope that all those who took part in that thread will take time to hear him.

I listened to half of the first link and had to stop. I went over it again to make sure I'd heard correctly. Quote:''they were not saved''.
He totally ignores the second half of verse 38 and doesn't continue to the end of the chapter. For some reason he seems to be cutting the verse in half and ignoring the rest to ''fit'' his doctrine.
If he'd continued then it would have realised that these people ''received the gratuity of the Holy Spirit'' 38b. That the promise or pre-evangelism were to these people, that is the pre-evangelism given throughout the OT. Further on he would have discovered that these people were evidencing salvation by the works they performed by trust and had been added to the ecclesia by Messiah Himself v47.

Receiving of the Holy Spirit and being added to the ecclesia is what I call salvation.

Thanks for your post Huw, But I fear your not getting what E.C. is saying. He is not saying those people are LOST. He is saying they are not saved as people of today are. When we are saved today, Our sin is covered by the blood of Christ. Its a done deal. But read the following from Acts. And take note that the person that wrote Acts KNEW Jesus had been here. Once.

Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

Act 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

I hope you will take time to go back and hear what he (E.C. Moore) has to say. I think you will find he stays with the Word.

Is there no one out there

Is there no one out there that can think outside tradition enough to see the problems Acts 3:19-21 pose for today's Christian thinking ?

If you believe in pre or mid tribulation rapture. If you believe that once a person is saved their sin is nailed to the cross, ?

He is a hyper-dispensationalist. He is most likely KJVO. Those two issues alone are all anyone needs to know about his ability to rightly divide the scripture.

And that at least seven other so called versions leave out "Without a cause"

1-NLT But I say, if you are angry with someone,* you are subject to judgment!

2-NIV But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother*will be subject to judgment.

3-ESV But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment;

4-NASB "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be *guilty before the court;

5-RSV But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment;

6-ASV but I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment;

7-DBY But *I* say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment;

Ain't that last one a doozy ?

Now I have had what I'd like to think were well meaning people try and tell me that this little difference don't matter. I guess that's all about how you look at it. God said Speak and Moses struck. That one small difference kept him from the promised land.

To leave out "Without a cause" changes the text. From the fault being in the unjust anger to being in the anger itself.

And yet the KJ Bible says-

Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

To believe those, one would have to believe that Paul is saying "Sin, and sin not". yea right.

I have shown reason for being KJVO. Just one of many. Show me a reason not to be. Its a question of faith or lack there of. I have faith in the KJV. I believe that it is the Word of God. If you do not, Stand right up and say so.

Marty, against my better judgment, I will pay the tax to cross this bridge.

This is an issue of faith for you because you will not believe the facts. You are welcome to believe the KJV is exclusively the Word of God, but you cannot show me that scripture that says that. So your faith is in faith. That is just positive thinking. I don't need the warm and fuzzy theology. It is obvious I touched a nerve.

Riddle me this:

What was the Word of God before the KJV?

and then this follow up:

Why did the KJV translators change the Word of God when they put together the KJV?

It is okay if you don't answer. I will understand.
