SBC view

Not the SBC view in Utah-Idaho.   They want to be on the church planting advance.

Where he's coming from

I am a Baptist who serves in the Baptist Generation Association of VA which is a state convention that once only partnered with the SBC but now works with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (my personal national home). Derik Hamby

IIRC, the CBF is on the left wing of the SBC.  And he is looking at "denominations", while most Baptists I know are basically local church oriented.

CBF and ABP News

Rob, you are correct the writer is affiliated with the CBF, which is almost totally at this point non-affiliated with the SBC.  It is much more theologically open and depending on how they end up deciding on issues around homosexuality may have another split among themselves.

Also, APB (Associated Baptist Press) news is the official media voice of the CBF, while BP News (Baptist Press) is the official voice of the Southern Baptist Convention.
