Liberty University will pay $14 million, the largest fine ever levied under the federal Clery Act

While I would agree that $14 million can be an appropriate penalty for failing to deal with sexual assault allegations well, it is "interesting" that Liberty is paying the biggest fines, and not....

  • Michigan State University, which suffered the Larry Nassar scandal with the sexual abuse of over 500 victims, mostly female gymnasts.
  • The University of Michigan, home of the Robert Anderson scandal, with over 700 men abused by a sports doctor, mostly football players.
  • The Ohio State University, home of the Richard Strauss scandal, where hundreds of athletes were abused
  • The University of Southern California, where thousands of women were abused by a student clinic gynecologist
  • ....or any of a list of other schools with horrendous issues.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
