.....is that the school is deciding they will be the parent. Put gently, I fail to lay my finger upon the article of law that enables this. Moreover, whenever government has tried to do this--in Revolutionary France, in state run orphanages, in the Soviet Union and Communist China--it has worked out really, really badly. My take is that until social services is truncating or terminating parental rights, the parents have the right to know--and really to approve/reject the child's request.

The problem is not that schools are taking over the rights of parents. The problem is that Christian parents are putting their kids into enemy hands and then complaining about the results. It's not the 60s or 70s anymore. Public schools, even the "good" ones are driven by a philosophy that is directly antithetical to godliness...and quality education. Even secular observers notice. Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) is a University of Tennessee law professor, and he says sending your kids to public school is child abuse. How much worse is it for a Christian parent to do so? It's past time for God's people to get their kids out and keep them out.
