"A former Baptist missionary doctor from Wyoming accused of molesting nearly two dozen girls and women in Bangladesh, along with a girl in Allendale, won't face trial. An Ottawa County judge ruled that Donn Ketcham, now 87, is incompetent to stand trial because he suffers from dementia." - NBC Grand Rapids
Bauder: "I have no interest in trying to exonerate Robert T. Ketcham if he really is guilty. The Lord’s work is not well served when His people conceal the predatory behavior of Christian leaders, whether past or present. Covering up abuses is not the same thing as covering sins in love. So if there is real evidence to support the accusation against the older Ketcham, then let the truth be known. If the evidence does not exist, however, then repetition of the charge is, at best, irresponsible.
If Ketcham was guilty of “long-standing sexual addictions,” it is inconceivable that no record exists. Since the early 1980s I have been researching Regular Baptist history, examining both living witnesses and written documents across the United States. For many years the GARBC has given me free access to its archives (including the so-called “naughty files” dealing with ministerial transgressions). I have also had access to the papers of some of Ketcham’s opponents and enemies.
