We are far too afraid of assigning any responsibility to victims because of the backlash that would occur. It is WAY politically incorrect to counsel victims about the things that made them vulnerable to false teaching, seduction, or even an actual physical attack (of course, there instances where a physical attack occurs that the victim could not have prevented regardless, but that’s not what the article is aimed at).

By not respecting the authority of the individual and addressing personal responsibility, we further victimization by not helping them to see the factors that led to their situation, what they can do to heal, and also to prevent it ever occurring again.

Yes, somehow we have begun to only apply half of personal responsibility. The attacker is certainly responsible for the choices he has made, but the victim is also fully responsible for the choice he has made along the way. This does not minimize the plight of the victim, but it does require the full measure of justice.
