The Pattern Among Fallen Pastors
I am personally familiar with 5 cases of moral failure (where I know the pastor / missionary).
In one case I have a deeper knowledge of the situation (this man is my brother and we are friends):
- He met a woman on an online fundamentalist forum (not Sharper Iron)
- He and the woman used handles / pseudonyms. They communicated via the forum chat system.
- Both were married with children
- Ultimately he drove almost 1000 miles away “on church business” and slept with her in a motel
- After he was caught, he denied involvement. But a photo posted online was his undoing
- His wife put him out of the house
- His church dismissed him
- Ultimately he repented and his wife took him back.
