John MacArthur Answers His Critics

John Macarthur also says it’s ok to receive the Mark of The Beast. According to him, receiving the mark of the beast won’t affect your eternal salvation. You can find the video on Youtube. What a sick man he is.

Ok, so he holds to the position—as do other Bible teachers—that some will receive the mark, repent, and trust Christ. That doesn’t make him sick. It just means, apparently, that he doesn’t hold to your position. Let’s be careful. Let’s also not allow this thread to get distracted from the OP. I, frankly, appreciated the Strange Fire conference as well as Mac’s responses in the Q&A.

By the way, for some additional, sane commentary on the 33-yr-old clip referred to, see:

No where in scripture do I see people receiving the mark, and then repenting. I see unrepentant unbelievers cursing God during the wrath of God upon the Earth.

This false teaching is putting people’s eternal destiny in peril. If he is wrong, and someone receives the mark and goes to hell, it will be because of his false teaching.

Christian,

No matter how many errors we may make, God will not let a single one of the elect slip through His fingers into eternal damnation. God’s will is always accomplished, including the saving of the elect named before the foundation of the world, regardless of my or anyone else’s actions.

Why is it that my voice always seems to be loudest when I am saying the dumbest things?

Christian,

the language you use discredits anything you have to say about MacArthur. And for me, it discredits anything you might say on any issue.

Albert Mohler is a false teacher like John MacArthur.

What a sick man he is.

Chip, you beat me to it :) No worries, the elect were already, and the will make it to heaven just fine. Glad we don’t have to worry about who goes to heaven.

One of the speakers at Strange Fire was Conrad Mbewe. I recommend folks listen to his message “The African Import of Charismatic Chaos” as he describes how the Charismatic movement has played out on his continent. He kept ending paragraphs with the chilling comment, “but the Scriptures were closed” or something close to that. Large congregations across the continent filled with people whose understanding of what it means to be a Christian is defined by some charismatic breakthrough experience, but they couldn’t explain the gospel even in simple terms. Very tragic. So I appreciate the way MacArthur has framed this discussion as a global one, not simply one involving American Christianity.

Yes, it is true there is a lot of unknowns about the tribulation period, but there are things known as revealed in Scripture. And I wonder, is there any other specific period of time in the future that we know more about?

For those really, really wanting to get into all the nuances of the Tribulation Period & eschatological minutia, perhaps starting another thread would be appropriate? Perhaps? That whole area of discussion has nothing to do with this thread.

…I posted the comment about Conrad Mbewe, but then simply responded to the what Jim had written about the tribulation. It wasn’t my intention to push the thread in a different direction.

How did the discussion go from the mark to the elect. I agree completely, God will always watch over his elect. And I am sure that God will not allow his elect to receive the mark of the beast, but will give them courage to endure persecution and even death, spiritual discernment to see through the lies, and will help them to persevere. Do you really think God will allow his elect to be deceived by the antichrist into receiving the mark of the beast? If so, then the God you believe in is a weak and unfaithful God.

By now every Christian has heard of the Mark of The Beast. Heck, even unbelievers know about it. So how can anyone be deceived into taking it? If they receive the mark, it will be because they fear death more than God.

Christian,

We went there because you opined that some might be fooled by false teachers and accidentally miss out on heaven which they otherwise would have attained if not for the false teaching that led them astray.

OTOH, Chip, while it is necessary that offenses must come, woe unto them by whom they do.

(not that MacArthur’s teaching on this is such an offense).
