Chick-fil-A: if you’re not sure, this is how fascism works

This is not about being “right” or “wrong” on an issue. This is about menacing and bullying people into conforming or paying the price. It’s about the bastardization of the word “tolerance” in our society, to the point where the word no longer means “live and let live” or “let people be who they are”; the word has become distorted in a very unhealthy way.

The big deal is simply this: the press put aside context and decided to paint this company as some radically-religious-gay-hating-entity and then let the forces of anger, hate and spite have their way with it. The truth is, one can be a Christian and still be sympathetic to some parts of the so-called “gay agenda” without signing on in toto. One can disagree on the issue of gay marriage — based on scripture, or thousands of years of tradition, or on natural law — without actually hating anyone. But the right to principled opposition is being erased, quickly, and the press is doing all it can to help erase it. We are losing the right to say, “I don’t think the same way you do; my opinions are different.” That matters, a lot.

This is our mainstream press — the people charged with the public trust — and it has moved beyond advocacy and into “search and destroy” mode.

Chick-fil-A - If you’re not sure, this is how fascism works

Discussion

First of all Chick-Fil-A is a great place to eat. We don’t have many up here in Minnesota (there’s one at the airport and one on the U of M campus).

My two boys hate fast food restaurants and won’t eat at McDs, B/K, Wendy’s or Taco Bell. But they love Chick-Fil-A. People know value and quality when they see it.

Several years ago we were traveling in Kentucky and stopped at a Chick-Fil-A for lunch. It is a great place to eat and is a cut above the fast food places.

So:

  • This is great publicity for them!
  • They are going to garner the Christian consumer who will think - “let’s support Chick-Fil-A and support Christian values”
  • They will garner the conservative consumer who will think - “let’s support Chick-Fil-A and fight against the political correctness crowd”
  • Plus they will retain the “Eat More Chik’n” (they appreciate the food, service and cleanliness) bunch

I’m telling you this is all positive for Chick-Fil-A. People will vote with their feet and business will be booming for them

Is there anyone left in America like this today (other than some of those covered by the second bullet)?

Why is it that my voice always seems to be loudest when I am saying the dumbest things?

I actually think that there are many!

AND there are a lot of non-Christians who get that marriage is sacred and between a man and a woman
